How to Create a Jacket Tech Pack with AI

Create a complete jacket tech pack with AI — lining construction, closure systems, pocket types, collar details, and technical specifications.

Why jackets need the most detailed tech packs

Jackets are among the most complex garments to specify. Multiple layers (shell, lining, insulation), complex closure systems (zippers, buttons, snaps), varied pocket types (welt, patch, internal), and specialized construction (storm flaps, cuffs, collar stands) all need precise documentation.

A missing specification on a jacket tech pack is more costly than on a t-shirt — sample revisions on jackets are expensive due to material complexity and construction time.

Jacket types and their specific requirements

Different jacket categories have fundamentally different tech pack requirements.

  • Bomber: ribbed collar/cuffs, front zip, internal pocket, satin lining
  • Denim: button closure, yoke construction, chest pockets, copper hardware
  • Puffer: quilting pattern, insulation type and weight, baffle construction
  • Blazer: canvas/fusing, lapel construction, welt pockets, sleeve lining
  • Coach/windbreaker: packable, snap closure, elastic cuffs, mesh lining
  • Parka: hood with fur/faux-fur trim, storm cuffs, multiple pockets, drawcord waist

Generating a jacket tech pack with AI

Describe your jacket with layer details and the AI generates appropriate multi-layer construction specs. Specify outershell fabric, lining fabric, insulation type (if applicable), and all closure hardware.

The generated BOM will include separate entries for shell fabric, lining fabric, interlining/fusing, insulation, main zipper, pocket zippers, buttons/snaps, drawcords, and trims — each with material type, color, and supplier reference.

Critical jacket specifications to verify

After generation, verify these jacket-specific details: collar stand height and construction, lapel width and gorge line position (for blazers), zipper type and length, pocket bag dimensions, lining attachment method, and sleeve construction.

For insulated jackets, verify fill power or synthetic fill weight, quilting stitch length, baffle width, and whether quilting is through-stitch or box-baffle construction.

Lining and interlining specifications

Jacket linings need their own set of specifications: fabric type, weight, color, and construction method (fully lined, half-lined, body-lined only). Interlining and fusing specifications include fusible type, weight, and placement areas (collar, front panel, cuffs).

The AI generates these specifications based on jacket type — a blazer gets fusible interlining specs while a windbreaker gets mesh lining specs.
